You’ll learn

  • Convert first: if the question mixes cm and m, change everything to one unit before you substitute
  • Volume: V = πr²h (cubed units). Curved surface area: A = 2πrh — the label part only. Both are on page 10 of your maths tables
  • Total surface area (TSA) is the whole outside of a closed cylinder: the curved label part plus the two flat circular ends = 2πrh + 2πr². This is NOT in your maths tables — learn it

Formula used

V = π r²h

Curved surface area: A = 2π rh

Total surface area = 2π rh + 2π r² — MUST LEARN

On page 10 of the log tables — read it off, don’t memorise.
