- Primary data = data you collect yourself; Secondary data = data someone else collected
- Population = the whole group you are studying; Sample = a smaller group taken from the population
- A sample is biased if it does not fairly match the whole population
- Census = data from every single person in the population; Outlier = a value far bigger or far smaller than the rest
