JCHL Algebra 10: Factorising 4

You’ll learn

  • Recognise a quadratic you can factorise: an x² term, an x term and a number
  • Factorise it by splitting the middle term — multiply the first term by the last, then find the two terms that multiply to that and add to the middle one
  • Finish the factorising by grouping, and check your answer by multiplying the brackets back out
